There are few things that can match live music performed by a fantastic group to ensure an excellent night out. Everyone from young to old likes to get up and dance to live music and having a music group performing at your celebration will make it a night to remember. So what ever kind of celebration you are organizing, be it a birthday celebration, wedding party, anniversary or simply an excuse to get together with friends a live group will make all the difference.

There exists a whole variety of groups that can make for an incredible night but to give your guests something a little different why not choose a Ceili band? Ceilidh bands perform traditional country music for people to get up and dance to together with some songs, jokes and storytelling mixed in for good measure. The songs performed by Ceili bands can differ depending on where you live so Irish Ceili bands may have a different style from Scottish Ceilidh bands but the result will be the same-a great time for all.

A Ceili band will come complete together with a caller to instruct the dancers in the steps which they should carry out to every song. He will begin by giving a brief introduction for the up coming song and go over the steps that go with it and call out directions once the music is being performed. To begin with the steps will probably be quite simple so that everybody can be comfortable with them but the tempo will certainly pick up later in the night.

Ceili bands perform music in the conventional Celtic style while barn dance bands and Hoedown bands have their origins in a different tradition completely. Even so there are many similarities between the two with each of them based on mostly traditional music with a caller calling the steps.

You can have a Ceili or barn dance anyplace where there’s enough room for people to dance and for the group to setup their instruments. Callers bands and wedding ceilidh bands will supply their PA system and caller all you need to do is find a suitable location and fill it with your friends and family and have a lot of fun.
